GENERAL CAMP INFO
WHAT IS A TYPICAL DAY LIKE?
Activities take place in the mornings and afternoons with a lunch and recess period in between. All programming is specially curated for each group to be as engaging, stimulating, and enjoyable as possible. Each group has its own classroom, complete with storage for their belongings and their own bathroom, but activities are not confined to the indoors! We fully utilize the outdoors, as well: all 36-acres of our preserve and local Manhasset Bay are also our classrooms!

WHAT TO BRING TO CAMP?
We recommend your child bring the following items to camp with them.
• Sunscreen & bug spray
• Extra Change of Clothes
• Bathing Suit/Towel*
• Reusable Water Bottle
• Allergy Medication*
Please remember to label all items.
Note: SMLI will provide sunscreen and bug spray if your child does not have their own. We also highly recommend that parents apply sunscreen to their child every morning before camp. It will be reapplied before heading outside for lunch and recess.
*Bathing Suit/Towel: Campers will have access to sprinklers during the recess portion of each camp day and will also be making trips down to the beach and bay shore. Due to limited changing space and time, we request that campers come to camp with their bathing suits underneath their clothing if possible. Please also provide a labeled towel. Please let us know if you would like this towel to be returned home each day.
While we do not prohibit children from bringing toys, electronics, Pokémon cards, etc., please keep in mind that we are not responsible for lost or damaged property. Our staff will do their best to find lost goods (labeling everything belonging to your child is always a good idea and a huge help!) but we cannot guarantee everything will be found on our large property. We would also appreciate your emphasizing to your child that these things can only come out at recess, cannot be shared/traded, and are their responsibility.

Families will be provided with 2 additional car tags to distribute to their authorized persons. Any person without an official ‘Car Tag’ will be asked to pull off to the side so a staff member can verify that they are authorized to pick up your child. They will not be permitted to pick up the child until their identify and authorization has been verified.
If your child is being dropped-off at camp late or being picked-up early, please arrive and park in the main lot and walk up the hill to the main building. Please ask for our Camp Administrator, Katherine, who will properly check in your child for drop-off or verify that you are authorized to pick them up. Please note: only names listed on your child’s authorization form will be allowed to pick up your child. If your child will be getting picked up by someone not authorized, you must notify Katherine Melkonian at email@example.com or 516.564.2274 beforehand.

We follow the same guidelines set by NY State for schools. For more info please visit https://coronavirus.health.ny.gov/home
As per NY State guidelines, masks are no longer required but we encourage people to do whatever makes them the most comfortable.
Please keep your child at home if they are displaying signs of illness. Sick children displaying symptoms of COVID will not be admitted to camp. If your child tests positive for COVID, they cannot return to camp for at least five days.
If your child has been exposed to COVID, we ask that they only come to camp if they have tested negative and are not displaying any signs of illness. They must wear a mask while indoors for five days after exposure.
If you have any additional questions or concerns regarding COVID-19 protocols, please feel free to contact us.
Cancellations made up to and including May 1st, 2022, will receive a full refund minus a $75 administrative fee per each week cancelled. No refunds will be issued after May 1st, 2022. Membership fees are non-refundable.
Registration week transfers (pending availability) are subject to a $75 administrative fee per week. If camp registration is full we will not be able to transfer weeks.
Fun Fridays are our way of ending the week in a fun and exciting way. They will feature a different activity/event each Friday as well as a visit from local ice cream truck legend Mel. This year as a special treat for SMLI campers – the ice cream is on us! We will have a small selection of ice cream they can choose from – if they would like to purchase something outside that selection – please have them bring additional cash or it can be subtracted from their camper cash card.
Campers will also be invited to dress up for Fun Fridays. Each week will feature a unique theme (i.e., pajama day, crazy hair/hat day, etc.). We also have a new giant slip n’ side and special Fun Friday sprinklers so please be sure your child has a bathing suit and towels on these days, although we recommend your child has a towel and bathing suit every day they are at camp.
We are always happy to answer your questions!
