Campers are organized into groups based on registration levels and grade the camper has completed by June 2021
Our Senior Scientist program is suitable for kids who have completed 4th grade and up. This class will provide a unique camp experience unlike any other at SMLI.
Session 2: July 12th – 16th
In this week devoted to biology, we’ll learn what makes organisms tick (including you!) and what sets mammals, reptiles, and amphibians apart. We’ll meet the animals of SMLI, extract DNA, and even dissect frogs!
Session 3: July 19th - 23rd
Can you hold (or even eat!) insects? And how much sour can you handle? Face your fears in this week filled with the creepier and stranger aspects of science. Compete in challenging team tasks, make stink bombs and slimes, and much more.
Session 4: July 26th – 30th
It's a Shore Thing
Discover the dynamic world of the intertidal zone as we journey down to Manhasset Bay. Learn about this complex ecosystem firsthand as we explore the beach, seine for fish, and test the water. Don’t forget to bring a towel!
Session 5: August 2nd - 6th
Calling all tinkerers, designers, and engineers! This STEM-focused week will teach you the engineering process through tons of customizable contraptions. Build 'em all your way: vehicles, machines - and, of course, our famous marshmallow shooters!
Session 6: August 9th - 13th
Venture deep into Leeds Pond Preserve! Learn essential survival skills like building your own fire, constructing a shelter, and more. Come prepared for an outdoor adventure that will test your mettle!
Session 7: August 16th - 20th
Sharpen your detective skills and investigate an immersive mystery during this camp-wide thriller! Examine crime scenes, interview suspects, and analyze evidence using forensic science to solve the big case.
Session 8: August 23rd - 27th
Design and simulate your own solar system, build and launch a rocket, and discover how astronauts live and work together in space in this high-tech week dedicated to the cosmos. Using our StarLab planetarium, Universe Sandbox program, and more, we’ll investigate some of astronomy’s biggest questions.
