Do you want to work in nature, environmental education, or with animals? Are you looking for a way to give back to your community while spending time in the great outdoors? Are you looking for a way to fill your community service hours, high school internships, or looking for a fun and exciting way to spend some of your free time? Becoming an SMLI volunteer is a great place to start!


Certain tasks may require a minimum age for individuals to participate.

Volunteer opportunities include:

1.  Animal Care - Assist with the care of our animals including prepping food/water bowls, cleaning tanks and cages

2.  Birthday Party/ Holiday Workshop Assistant - Help our educators during our science themed birthday parties.  Assist with setting up the party room, handing out materials for science experiments, handing out food and drinks, clearing dirty paper goods, and helping clean up the space afterwards.


3.  Grounds Work - Help with the beautification of our grounds by helping clear overgrowth and vines, weeding, and keeping our gardens looking great.

4. Live at Five / Special Events -  Help with the set up & Breakdown, ticketing and parking at our Live at Five outdoor summer concert series and other special events.
