SMLI's Summer Camp program blends immersive science experiences with classic summer fun, sparking curiosity while creating lasting memories. Every day is a new discovery! Campers entering Preschool-7th grade will embark on engaging scientific adventures, from conducting captivating chemistry experiments, investigating ecosystems, or uncovering the past with real fossils. Campers build friendships, get messy, and have a blast doing it!

  • Unique Weekly Themes: Our weekly registration option is designed to meet your ever-changing summer plans. Join us for all 8 weeks, or pick & choose to match your child's interests and summer schedule. 

  • Hands-On Learning Indoors & Outdoors: Learning spaces that extend past the classroom into our 36-acre preserve. Campers actively participate in nature-based investigations and outdoor play each week. 

  • Classic Camp Vibes: Scavenger hunts, arts & crafts and Fun Fridays that include pizza lunch, ice cream, our giant slip n' slide all ensure a well-rounded camp experience that is both educational and fun!

Typical Camp Day
Camp curriculum is developed by our year-round education staff ahead of the start of summer camp, but with room for flexibility to ensure that the weeks activities match campers interests, age and academic abilities best.

Our Camp Groups
Campers are split into groups based on the grade they'll be entering for the next school year. Learn more about how each of our camp groups is specifically designed to match your child's age and academic level.
Tiny Explorers

Rising Preschool & Kindergarten (minimum 4 years old by August 31st)

  • Monday - Friday

  • 10:00am - 3:00pm

    • Early Drop-Off & Late Pick-Up Available​

 

Curiosity leads the way in our Tiny Explorers program. Each day is filled with activities that prioritize hands-on play & exploration, with breaks for relaxed free play included. The SMLI approach acknowledges that scientific learning with our youngest campers is a delicate balance between structured and play, allowing children to enjoy their innate curiosity for learning.

Junior Adventurers 

Rising 1st - 4th grade

  • Monday - Friday

  • 10:00am - 3:00pm

    • Early Drop-Off & Late Pick-Up Available​

 

Our Jr. Adventurers make up the bulk of our camp. They enjoy SMLI's most classic and beloved activities that have been enjoyed by former campers over the years. Whether it's erupting their own volcanoes during our geology weeks, or hopping into our portable planetarium during space week, each day is sure to bring on a new adventure!

Sr. Scientists 

Rising 5th - 7th grade

  • Monday - Friday

  • 10:00am - 3:00pm

    • Early Drop-Off & Late Pick-Up Available​

 

Our oldest campers take science learning to the next level, with weekly themes unique to just them, including 'CSI: Leeds Pond' and 'Scientists VS the Wild.' They partake in experiments and projects that truly interconnect throughout the week, including rocket building during space week, seine netting during beach week, and more!

CIT Program (Counselor-in-Training)

Rising 8th & 9th graders

  • Monday - Friday

  • 10:00am - 3:00pm

    • Early Drop-Off & Late Pick-Up Available​

 

Our CIT program is a great opportunity for older campers to gain valuable experience & leadership skills while still enjoying some summertime fun. CIT's are the bridge between camper & staff, with their love of science motivating younger campers in their group.
